We went with my parents to LBI to try to find a house to rent for vacation. We didn't succeed in finding anything, so we went for lunch and went home.
When we went to take Emily out of her carseat, Jim thought she either 1. spilled her drink or 2. peed through the carseat. Either way, we decided to bring it in and wash it.
I fed Jimmy as soon as we got home and I was holding him for a bit....okay he fell asleep on me so it was a couple of hours. Jim and Emily are hungry so Jim starts making dinner for them. I decide to "try" and take apart the carseat to wash it. Anyone who has ever tried to take a carseat apart should find some humor in this.
Jim asks me if I strap Jimmy in when I put him in his carrier. I said, "No"....but what I should've said was..."I don't put him in the carrier". I then went into the bedroom. You see where this is going right?
All of a sudden I hear it.......................THUD!
Both of us are running, Jim gets to him first. Jimmy decided to see if he could practice some rolling and tipped the carrier, with himself in it, OFF of our dining room table. Both Jimmy & the carrier land on the floor.
Jimmy is of course screaming, but so is Jim. I am now wrestling Jim for the baby to check him out. He seemed okay, but I gave him Tylenol.
About a half hour later, he still doesn't have bumps or bruises....but he hasn't stopped crying. Now, those who have met him, know that he doesn't cry for no reason.
Jim & I want to have him checked out so we decide to head to the emergency room. Well, remember the carseat! So at 8:00pm, Jim has to get the other carseat from my car and install it in the Explorer to go to the ER. Yes, in the dark!
We finally get to the ER. Jimmy has stopped crying and is now flirting (Yes, flirting!) with the two nurses and the doctor. Go figure! They said all his vitals looked great, so no CAT scan was needed.
We bundled him back up and headed home. What a day!
Oh yeah, the reason Jimmy wouldn't stop crying was because he was hungry! Jim & I didn't realize this until we got home from the hospital.
As a side note: my hospital has a pediatric ER. Its really neat! It is much less scary than the real sterile looking ER. It has been open for about 7 years. Surprisingly, we've never been there.
